Addis Hiwot General Hospital and COVID-19

The safety of our patients and staff has always been and remains to be our top priority. As the world continues to navigate the challenges presented by COVID-19, we realize that some people may have concerns about coming to the hospital even as they seek to address pressing health issues. Please note that we have implemented extraordinary measures and additional protocols to help ensure a safe and clean environment for our patients, physicians, staff and
community.

Coming into the hospital – All staff, patients and visitors in all our clinical facilities must wear a mask to protect against COVID-19 transmission.

– Hand washing is mandatory and available at the entrance door

– All employees and patients entering the hospital are screened for COVID-19 and temperature checked as they enter the hospital to indicate that they do not have a fever or symptoms of any respiratory illness. 

Inside the hospital

  • Social distancing is practiced
    • Waiting area seats are marked where seating is allowed and not
    •  Caution lines at the reception allow distanced communication with the receptionists
    • Nurse stations also have borders where distanced communication is practiced
  • Hospital personnel wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipments) such as face masks, hair nets, aprons, face shields, gloves, etc., for patient and personnel protection
  • Alcohol sanitizers are available throughout the hospital
  • Patients rooms in the wards, OPD rooms, imaging room are fumigated frequently and instruments used in managing a patient are also carefully and intricately cleaned.
  • Isolation rooms are available for suspected cases
  • Washing basins available in each OPD rooms
  • Wards have been modified to incorporate only one bed per room
  • All patients that require admission are first screened for COVID
  • Visitors are not allowed
  • COVID-19 Information is available thru posters and videos
