Internal medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of internal diseases. Our doctors are skilled in the management of patients who have undifferentiated or multi-system disease processes.
Some specialties include:
- General Internal Medicine
- Nephrology, etc.
General internists are equipped to handle the broad and comprehensive spectrum of illnesses that affect adults, and are recognized as experts in diagnosis, in treatment of chronic illness, and in health promotion and disease prevention—they are not limited to one type of medical problem or organ system.
General internists are equipped to deal with whatever problem a patient brings—no matter how common or rare, or how simple or complex. They are specially trained to solve puzzling diagnostic problems and can handle severe chronic illnesses and situations where several different illnesses may strike at the same time.
Our internal medicine specialists care for patients with acute medical illnesses, complications of chronic diseases and patients needing investigation of undiagnosed illnesses.
They have expertise in the diagnosis and management of complex and chronic disorders and are specially trained in treating problems that affect multiple body systems in patients. They work closely with other sub-specialists to optimize the care of the patient.
